Traktor Kontrol Z2 ready for pre-order

We deliberated, assumed, discussed, guessed, dribbled, criticized and developed a mild case of hysteria when Native Instruments teased us with their sneak preview of the yet to be named DJ Mixer.  The name trickled out through various tweets and discussions that followed, but now the official news is here. The Z2 is available for pre-order over at Native Instruments for a price not too far away from many peoples’ guesses at $899.00. Ean Golden of DJ Tech Tools fame has stepped once again into the limelight with this new video, this time, with a much more listenable array of samples and music. … Continue reading Traktor Kontrol Z2 ready for pre-order

Fame Vs. Underground

It’s an interesting debate and a subject that many DJ’s find difficult to navigate.  Just as there is a fine line between genius and insanity, a similar line can be found separating DJ’s between Fame and Underground. I am sure many of you out there have different reasons for why you want to become, or have become a DJ.  I would say however, that the 3 most prominent reasons are Music, Money or recognition.  I feel it a shame that the latter 2 even be contenders, but unfortunately in this day and age, greed and narcissism are very real diseases. … Continue reading Fame Vs. Friday Guest Mix – MadPete

It seems that with only one mix currently uploaded to Soundcloud; MadPete is relatively new on the scene?  However, once you listen to this mix, you will see that he has a tuned ear for some great records and has pieced them together nicely in this musical journey of Old Vs. Traktor Reveals a New Mixer

I stayed up late to await the release of the preview, but no release had been made before I had to peel off to bed.  This morning upon waking I watched the new teaser video of the Native Instruments 2+2 channel mixer. The only thing this video unveils is some terrible music! For this reason I refuse to put the video up on these pages.  Come on NI, you are based in Berlin, the home of decent music, surely you can pull something together better than this? Anyway – feel free to head on over to Native Instruments website for … Continue reading Traktor Reveals a New Mixer

Getting Technical with James Zabiela & Pete Tong

Pete Tong hosts a BBC DJ Techniques workshop with James Zabiela.  The video is amazing for geeking out to and seeing how James sets his gear up.  It also covers the Syncing debate nicely.  As James puts it, “….it’s easier than it’s ever been to beat match…. you have to evolve and bring new things into your sets….Continue reading “Getting Technical with James Zabiela & Pete Tong”

My Reaction to the Sync Debate Nonsense

With the recent release of the CDJ 2000 NXS, the Sync debate has risen again!  A recent article from Not Your Juke Box brought my attention to this.  Here is my response! I am upset that this debate is still given traction. It certainly highlights the immaturity of many and the fragility of egos when sides must be taken on this ‘sync or no sync’ nonsense! Thankfully at this stage, people are free to choose whatever method they prefer to achieve the results they want. I would not tell you how to bring up your child, because it is YOUR … Continue reading My Reaction to the Sync Debate Nonsense

Friday Guest Mix – Dan Blox

This weeks #FridayGuestMix is an excellent blend of Tribal influenced Drum n Bass and Breaks, with a sprinkling of very easy listening Moombahton and some old skool style rave sounds, all nicely topped off with some great lyrics in some of the later tunes. A very worthy listen. Thanks to Dan Blox for this weeks musical delights…… http://soundcloud.com/danblox/1-hour-of-aural-pleasure Continue reading Friday Guest Mix – Dan Blox
